Yoga for Tinnitus

​

 

Yoga is reported to reduce sympathetic activity, which in turn reduces the level of stress hormone cortisol. Yoga is recommended as a treatment for stress anxiety and depression by the NICE guidelines and NHS.

 

As tinnitus is often associated with stress and anxiety, it is believed that Yoga can effectively overcome/reduce the severity of tinnitus.

Yoga can also improve symptoms of neck stiffness and reduced circulation which may increase tinnitus.

 

There have been a few small studies that identified an improvement in tinnitus symptoms and the ability to cope with tinnitus symptoms after yoga, meditation and breathing exercises.

 

Yoga can boost mood and soothe the nervous system. By reducing feelings of stress and anxiety, which commonly exacerbate tinnitus, tinnitus symptoms can be reduced, make you feel better overall and improve quality of life.
